How & What I Spent Last Week
JUNE 1st - 7th. (The monthly recaps are becoming weekly recaps!!!)
Hello, my angels! Some of you may have seen my first “how & what I spent this week” weekly recap on TikTok this weekend. I know that app is not everyone’s’ cup of tea, and some just prefer written content versus short videos (hi, newsletter)!! Because of this, and in realizing I already have the foundation for this post (my little voiceover script), I’ve decided that I’m bringing the weekly recaps back for June and July! I’ll probably scale back to monthly posts when the school year starts back up again, but I’m excited to be in your inboxes a little more through the summer :~)
Here’s how and what I spent last week.
Saturday, June 1st // WAKE UP, WAKE UP, WAKE UP. Rent, utilities, and car insurance right away. I am TRYING not to be so spendy in June, or at least that's what May me had in mind for June me, but there I was, buying dealcoholized wine and a latte made by a bionic arm at the farmer's market at 9:23am.
Used AppleCash for my latte — I know it’s real money, but it’s also surprise money, and the perfect stash of funds for an impromptu stir-it-yourself latte (the bionic arm is not here to take baristas’ jobs). My best friend
was in town and we took her son to the children's museum1 & she sprung for the tickets. #Blessed. After his nap, we all hung out at my pool and then I bought us some ice cream at Trash. Naomi got some chicken & waffles from a local food truck called The Fire Truck with some type of peach preserves on top?? Basil was also in the chat?? It was so tasty!Sunday, June 2nd // CHORE DAY!! Boring, but needed. I spent the morning at home and then tackled a little trip to Sam's. I didn't stray from the list and made it out of there spending just a little over $100, which was under budget (although I didn’t end up getting any snacks, because there were many a baseball family grabbing cuties and Cheez-Its for their respective teams). That afternoon, I cleaned the bathrooms, did all my laundry, and mopped. I told myself I could get a half-sweet brown sugar milk tea at Fruitealicious as a treat after hot yoga if I did all my chores and GUESS WHAT, IT WORKED.
I didn’t mention this in the video, but I got a bra from Honeylove that I had ordered that past week in the mail. I love it, five stars for sure.
Monday, June 3rd // Weirdly, a no-spend day. I went to Pilates2, made a delicious little breakfast & coffee, and journaled for a long time. It started storming & I hadn’t taken a nap in forever. I’m still not a great napper — if I nap too long, I’m groggy for the rest of the day (life's hard), but windows open + pitter patter of rain = amazing. The storms cleared and Eric and I headed out for date night. We went to see Maggie Rogers at the AMP — I partnered with them to make a reel promoting the show a few weeks back, so tickets were comped, but we were NOT expecting pit tickets & AMP Underground passes! Spoiled! For my locals… Underground is awesome. We will definitely be choosing this add-on to our tickets in the future :’) You get a few food/drink tickets, there’s lots of room to lounge, and there’s live music!! You can hang down there before the show, and even after as the crowd clears out. I had to get the Rogers in Rogers shirt made specifically for the Arkansas show3, especially because a portion of the sales went to tornado relief from last week's storms. Eric insisted on paying, which is very kind, and officially made this a no-spend day for me, LOL. As if the Underground wasn’t enough, we got to go on a little sidequest to the Land O’Lakes lounge to visit a friend of mine who works in catering. I had a donut for dinner, which just felt right. As for Maggie, THE WOMAN IS A POWERHOUSE!!! I’ve loved her since I first heard Alaska in grad school, but this was my first time seeing her live. She’s incredible. I’m listening to her new album as I edit this, actually. What a fun night! Loved running into so many pals, too!
Tuesday, June 4th // Technically my last work day on contract for the school year. I had to get a little Dunkin’4 because I was up too late on a school night. I wore my new favorite sweater I got for my birthday and had Tropical Smoothie for lunch with my district SLPs. Got gas on the way home, and went to a bounce class on lil rebounders. IT WAS SUCH A FUN WORKOUT!! Can’t wait to go back.
Wednesday, June 5th // I started off the day at an XFORMER class with one of my favorite instructors. Came home & made myself a delicious Cometeer latte to hype myself up to finish some continuing education courses. I then applied for my state license which thanks to a recent bill, went from around $60 a year to $3 (plus applicable fees, lol)! That was nice. Paid my statements off on two credit cards. Then I went to hot yoga and came home, made some dinner and watched the Jim Henson documentary. Always my answer to the “who’d you love to have dinner with?” question. HIS MIND, I —
Thursday, June 6th // Slept in a little bit & headed to hot yoga again. If you couldn’t tell, I’m really trying to justify the ~Pilates x Yoga membership summer~. If I’m going to make the choice to NOT make a choice to cancel one, I’m going to USE THEM BOTH!!! I had a free Dunkin’ iced coffee (I’m currently building generational wealth by hoarding rewards points) (use! the! app!) so I said why not. Since I spent the day before yesterday on Tasks, Thursday felt like my first day of SUMMER!!! Even still, I did a lot of puttering around inside. I journaled for a bit and hung out on my phone, truthfully. I made dinner at home (in a bagged salad era), then last-minute decided to get an oil change before Valvoline closed. It was something productive & tangible to knock off the to-do list, as I spent the past few days dealing with a few headache-inducing admin things, including realizing I somehow did not pay my car payment last month because I switched bank accounts and turned off auto-pay. I fixed my mistake, but good grief.
Friday, June 7th // I started the morning at another XFORMER class, then showered & headed down to Fayetteville. I grabbed some Onyx for myself (salt mocha!) and my friend Karly (honey oat latte!), and bopped over to her house for a journaling morning!! She has a fresh lil baby and it was so fun to just be together and engage in one of our favorite hobbies (with a new guest of honor)! I spent the afternoon and evening at home, tidying up and relaxing ahead of a little weekend trip. More on that in the next one! :)
Total spent on silly little drinks: $25
Total workout classes attended: 7
Total I paid Chase Auto, through gritted teeth: $735
