spending recap no. 21: cookie has entered the chat
Much like my Hobonichi planner, I am a ~Monday-Start Girlie~
Hello, my angels! Welcome back to Claire From Online by me, Claire, from Online. I’m a little behind, unsure of why I started this weekly project on a Saturday-Friday cycle (I do know, June 1st was a Saturday, but it’s still throwing me off). We got our puppy, Cookie, yesterday, and it definitely wouldn’t feel right not including her in this wrap-up! She’s an eight week old Portuguese water dog and is a gorgeous goofy girl with a lot on her mind (just like her mom). We are already in love!!!! I’ve been a dog aunt/god mom for literal years… the wait was worth it to have Cookie in our family! Comin’ at ya live after our first night — I TOLD y’all I’ve been trying to wake up earlier, right? ;) I’m so grateful to past me that wrote the shell of this newsletter. *Millennial voice* Uh, YEAH, I’m definitely going to need that second cup of coffee.
Here’s how & what I spent this week.
Saturday, June 15th
I went to power yoga and I loved the challenge! That night, I headed down to Big Box Karaoke in Fayetteville for a fun night with pals. I haven’t been there in years, so it was fun. I canNOT sing, but that doesn’t matter. Our friend is partnering with them, so our night of fun and silliness and my first Old Fashioned in very many years was free!
Walmart: $34 (I’m so good at spending $34 at Walmart)
Big Box Karaoke: $0 :’)
Sunday, June 16h
Pretty chill day. I went to both xformer and yoga, ended up having to take three body showers total because it’s ~August hot~ in June, and went through/set up some puppy stuff. I forgot to mention this last week, but my mom gifted us a crate, some leashes, toys, and other supplies she kept after having to say goodbye to her sweet senior, Edie, last year. This is saving us HUNDREDS of dollars, and we’re super grateful.
All I spent was $2 on a Sprite from Sonic and it was worth every last cent.
Monday, June 17th
Got a handheld vacuum! Decided it would not only be useful for my office, but my car, the dog crate, and probably right behind our bed frame.
I woke up for an early barre class, made some breakfast, got gas & coffee, and then headed to my hair appointment! My hairstylist and I have known each other for years & have mutual friends, so it’s always fun to spend time together. Plus, she does an amazing job — I mean, have you seen my hair? It’s all her!!!
Eric and I decided on MetLife for pet insurance (for the record, Snoopy as mascot IS NOT THE REASON WHY, but it definitely had something to do with why we looked into it in the first place, lol), but that’ll just be swept up in my VLMVP (Very Large Monthly Venmo Payment) to Eric, including my half of rent and some other bits n bobs.
Black & Decker handheld vacuum: $21
Gas: $38
7Brew (& some for my hairstylist!): $12
Hair + tip: $210
Collar + shipping: $40 (apparently, I have been hoarding money on my Cash App debit card. Truly news to me. Felt free… wasn’t, but felt)
Monday date night! Love that we’ve been consistent!
Tuesday, June 18th
I had a Rot Day!!! It was NEEDED. Being 32, I think it’s only natural that I feel this strange guilt sometimes for not being a caretaker specifically to a spirited toddler, which is how a good 70% of my friends are spending their days (another handful are in a newborn dream haze as we speak). I wouldn’t say I’m at a yearning stage, just an acknowledgment that my life looks different than a lot of my peers, and this strange bit of pressure to “do what I can” to make “the most” out of my “free time” “while I have it”. This is something to talk about in therapy. But what’s a Rot Day if you don’t even play iPad games? I haven’t played Hay Day in MONTHS. I’ll do better next time.
I bought a few wood therapy tools from Amazon not because I care about a flat stomach but because my digestion has been off since 2019 and I know enough about lymphatic drainage to be dangerous. Also, I am grasping at straws. This is a very Claire purchase.
Wednesday, June 19th
MY AUNT AND UNCLE CAME TO TOWN!! They even brought my little cousin Archie1. We bopped around Bentonville and just had such a nice time visiting.
I took them to Pedaler’s Pub, they paid for my ice cream. They also brought snacks from Buc-ee’s and presents for Cookie. Crystal Bridges was free — it was their first time in so we just went through the permanent exhibits & the art trail.
Thursday, June 20th
We went over to Eureka Springs! It was hot and sticky, but fun. We climbed the Razorback Tower behind that gift shop, I showed them Thorncrown Chapel and The Crescent Hotel, and of course we went to the shops. I bought absolute nonsense, like $14 worth of juicy pear Jelly Bellys and Sunkist gems, stickers for my aunt & cousin, a magnet for my uncle, and little Kirby collectibles for two friends. OH! And a ceramic car coaster with a Portuguese water dog on it. It was the only PWD-related thing in the store, but it was $3 and you know I mess with many a Car Diet Coke / Car Sprite / Car Swig. My aunt and uncle paid for all my food because I Am Baby. I loved having them in town!!
Eureka Springs miscellany: $47
Yoga membership: $103 (each class was $8.58! I’ll take it!!!)
Apple Card payment: $275
Citi card payment: $525
Friday, June 21st
HAPPY ‘I WANT TO DISAPPEAR’ DAY! I spent a long time editing some TikToks for an upcoming collab, cleaned a bit, and wrote the majority of this newsletter ;)
Dunkin’ & app reload: $15
Walmart grocery pick-up: $67
The Story So Far vinyl, Target edition: $27
Birthday present for a pal: $30
