Welcome back to Claire From Online by me, Claire, from online. Here’s a new segment I just thought of four seconds ago, one that I did not introduce two newsletters before last when I told you There Would Be Some Changes To This Newsletter And Here Are The Things I’m Writing About Now — Thanks, MGMT. I know better than to give myself too many rules.
Four things currently in my pantry/fridge:
My own take on
’s Dense Bean Salad, for the second week in a row. Mine has a base of chickpeas + navy beans, with cucumbers, tomatoes, mozzarella, salami, olives, lots of fresh parsley, flaky salt + coarse black pepper, and a homemade dijon vinaigrette. Please be mindful of the fiber content, tootsies. Don’t tell me I didn’t warn you <3Quite a few boxes of President’s Choice Mac & Cheese FROM CANADA thanks to one of my readers, Jess :’) THANK YOU JESS!!!!! I LOVE YOU AND I MEAN THAT
Cookies of Snoopy - I WANT THE ONES IN THE TIN
Jonathan apples from the farmers market
Four things that made me go “haha :,) nice one, universe; i really love being alive” recently:
My best friend’s 3yo singing “PINK PONY CLUB! PINK PONY CLUB!” this afternoon on our walk; just got a text from her saying she was humming it once again and her kid asks, “did you say ‘what have you done?’” Mom, DO NOT forget to sing what have you done.
The ‘write a letter to your future self’ station at a new coffee shop (see next section) — which was CUTE ENOUGH to be on this list as it is. Wrote about my time in Arkansas over the past near-decade. As I’m addressing the envelope to myself, the album opener (Old Friends) to THEE album of my first summer here (Cardinal) by MY FAVORITE band (Pinegrove) started playing and I nearly fell off my chair.
This TikTok has had me “yea yea yea yea”-ing around my house all week long
Driving down I-49 to a beautiful & rather intense sunrise earlier this week while Taste by Sleeping at Last starts playing. Which, if I’m in the right mood for it, has the potential to really stop me in my tracks.
AND DID — I was basking in the sunshine and immediately turned my attention to this ugly turkey vulture perched atop a billboard, wings out, facing the sun, as Ryan O’Neal starts singing,
I am alive,
I am awake,
I am aware of what light tastes like
It was such a perfect moment and it literally had me CACKLING. The art of paying attention, yadda yadda, whatever, sorry a turkey vulture Enjoying The Sunshine can’t also bring you to tears, I hope you heal
Four places I went over the past week that were new to me because novelty is the spice of life and I’m a creature of habit and routine but also love trying new things and-
Calmo Coffee both this Sunday and last Sunday morning. Get the Tahini Brew and start reading a new book (last week me) or meet up with a friend and check out the letter writing station (this week me)
Tanyard Creek — Can’t believe I’ve never been up to this not-so hidden gem just a few miles up the road! Cookie enjoys water as a rule; I think the fact that the water was flowing and making noise coupled with the sheer amount of people out on Labor Day had her a bit on edge. Still, a gorgeous day, and Cookie had her first pup cup at 7Brew on the way :'.)
Asian Amigo (Rogers location) — Haul included rice paper, guava juice in a can, Snoopy cookies from Japan (they’re Teddy Grahams-adjacent), pork + vegetable gyoza, honey butter chips
Pedaler’s Pub — Okay, I’m cheating, we go here all the time, but this was our first time in their new location (they just moved across the street). There’s truly nothing like PPub fries and a Diet Coke on a Sunday afternoon. Or PBR tallboy if you’re Eric. Today I had two Sprites because I’m just a little silly. As usual, it will take forever, but it’s worth it. This time was special, because our special guests included the bestie & co. :~)
Four things I’m putting pen to paper about this week:
Packing list for OUR CABIN ON THE BUFFALO THIS WEEKEND!!! Things to consider: camera???? Sports bras: comfort, utility, both… and how many? Pancake mix & maple syrup! What stationery items shall I pack?!?! I NEED TO CLEAN MY CAR
My workout schedule because once I put the classes in my Hobonichi Cousin Weekly pages, they’re happening, I’m there. Next milestones include hitting 100 at one studio and 60 at the other, which both involve SIGNING A BOARD. I love the idea of SIGNING BOTH BOARDS before the end of October. So I’ll SEE YOU AT CLASS, BABES.
Probably these lists, either printed out or re-written, I’ll keep ya posted
Perhaps a Monthly Moods page, because it’s been wayyyyy too long.
Your turn: try writing four lists, with four items. Whaddya got?
xoxo Claire
this is so stinking fun and also i’m in awe (as a fellow school employee) how you’ve cultivated a going-to-class movement practice while ALSO having a dog and additional hobbies. 😮💨 truly, hats off to you
Love this layout!
