not afraid of paper no. 10: things i journaled about in october
... in my 2024 journal (there are no rules)
Welcome back to Claire From Online: The Newsletter, by me, Claire (from online). The first and last time I did one of these journal recap posts was in January, and I’ve seen a few floating around this month, namely this one by Hannah, that inspired me to get back into it!
I just reread the post from January for the first time, and somehow I managed to cover Midwest Porch Geese, parasocial relationships, Japanese toasts, and Myspace bulletins in less than 1500 words. That could pretty much sum me up, so I recommend starting there, and maybe I’ll go through the months in between - chunked as seasons, maybe? - in coming issues to pay tribute to 2023. Maybe.
I’ve moved into my 2024 planner already because time is fake and it’s just paper. I’m using a Sterling Ink B6 Common Planner1 and I am obsessed. The daily pages are undated, and contrary to popular belief, I’m like a 4-days-a-week journaler, so if my girl math is correct, it’ll be perfect to get me through until next December. And if I fill it up before then, I simply just won’t care. I don’t know how else to explain this, but you have to trust me!
Here’s an affirmation before the paywall if you just need a lil’ something to get you going: you have to give yourself permission to journal about your ‘boring’ and ‘mundane’ life. Every day is not going to be the most interesting day you’ve ever lived and that’s okay. It is still worth documenting, if it is important for you to do so. Journaling is about noticing & paying attention. That’s all. Have fun!
